Oviedo Filarmonía Orchestra is a cultural reality of the city of Oviedo and an art asset in a city that considers culture as key component for the growth of its society.
A civilization is not only measured in economic digits. Economy may be paramount, but obviously culture should also be considered. Great civilizations have always had this idea clear and have made no attempts to separate them, since they have always known that mankind is made up of both flesh and spirit.

Words such as spirit, soul achieved sacred value, although in this “modern” world, increasingly barren and blind, they are acquiring a pejorative meaning. These words may be from ancient times, but they are eternal and often those who make fun of them and who do not cherish them with conviction and understanding are riddled by ignorance and lack of consciousness.

We are here to cure this ignorance and blindness using music as our weapon, so that everyone may understand and appreciate Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Verdi, Falla....

Our purpose is to make our society understand that the light of culture will not die in a world increasingly nullified by ignorance.

We are here with the strength and will to express our ideal of beauty through sounds and music, because beauty has always existed. It is a value as old as man’s yearning for improvement.

We are currently living in a difficult period in History in which values are dissipating in a sort of devilish game. We are made to believe that those who still maintain such values are archaic and outdated.

All that is new is born from the old, a universally acknowledged truth. There is no child without a mother, be her good or bad, and there is no world without its roots.

We are here to make our present understood in relation to our past, our future in relation to our present: This is Universality, this is Culture.
 
Our project as an orchestra will always be our endeavour to make our music reach the whole of the social realms of Oviedo, to make it, if possible, even more conscious and beautiful.
